Morio Matsui was born in 1942 in Toyohashi, Japan. In 2000 Morio Matsui was awarded the "Order of Arts and Lettres" (2000) and the Legion of Honor (2003). He was was decorated by General Louise Coppolani in 2004. His "lithographs" are part of the collection of the Bibliothèque Nationale de Paris (National library). Is represented in Air France’s museum collection after having designed the interiors of the first-class sections of two Boeing 747s in 1972 and 1975 for the Ministry of Transport. (Previous designs by contemporary artists such as: Zao Wou ki, Singier, le Moal, Tourlière, and Hartung) He made a guest appearance, in Joseph Losey’s film "la Truite" in 1972, in which he played the role of a Japanese ambassador. The cast included Jeanne Moreau, Isabelle Huppert, Jean-Pierre Cassel, Ruggero Raimondi. Journal de Genève : full page for the 1984 New Year's edition having previously featured Dali and Carzou. In 1991 Morio Matsui was of the jury at the International Salon of Cartoons in Angoulême for Manga's first participation. Exhibition in 2005 at the Préfecture d'Ajaccio for the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days) and the 60th anniversary commemoration of the Atomic Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. In 2008 and 2009, for the first time ever, Ajaccio Fesch Museum's "1st exhibition" of its renowned collection of Italian, Napoleonic and Corsican impressionist paintings in eight Japanese museums as a result of Matsui’s and Mr Kotani (APT International) initiative. The Fesch museum has the second largest collection of Italian primitive paintings, second only to the Louvre. At a hotel suite in Goto, Nagasaki where 12 paintings were installed for the Prince Akishinonomiya's and Princess Kiko's stay. (07-22-2010).
